How do I define Apibotany based on honeybees' preferred flowering plants and their floral chemistry for harvesting quality honeybee products?

Question 1: Among guava, pomegranate, and citrus plants (including lemon), which plants did honeybees prefer mostly for harvesting honey and pollen (bee-bread)? Question 2: How will honeybees manage their diverse glycobiological needs or natural royal jelly glycobochemistry if beekeepers manage them through unnatural sugar syrup? How many books/studies have addressed Questions 1 & 2?

I define Apibotany (honeybee-associated botanical sciences) as a branch of Apiscience (Honeybee Science) which evaluates the flowers/flowering plants chemistry (structure-function correlation of flowers on fruiting and non-fruiting flowering plants) that honeybees prefer for nectar and pollen collection to manage their health and environment, and to naturally meet the diverse scientific (glycobiological) needs (e.g., glycosylation-phosphorylation interplay) of royal jelly. In my book “Honeybee Science and Apitherapy Future”, I mentioned that honeybees' preferences for plants/flowers are based on external environmental conditions or planetary health. Therefore, the correlation among ApiChemistry, ApiEnvironment, Apiglycobiology, and Apibotany is highly instrumental. As a result, Apibotany means the study of honeybees' preferred flowering plants for harvesting quality honeybee products (honey, bee-bread, propolis, and royal jelly) to manage diverse planetary health, chemistry, and environment.

Author: Dr. Muhammad R. Manwar, PhD.

Dr. Muhammad R. Manwar (PhD) gained research experience and knowledge in rapidly emerging sciences, including hereditary disorders and cancers, genomics, bioinformatics, pharmacogenetics, bacteriology, food chemistry, and glycomics. In different capacities, he has served higher‑education institutions—including public universities—in Asia and the Middle East. He made editorial contributions to international health and life science journals as an Editor (e.g., Topic Editor). In collaboration with scientists from the UK, China, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, he published peer-reviewed articles on rapidly emerging facets of biomedical science in high-quality journals (e.g., Q1- and Q2-ranked). His publications have been cited in well-respected (Q1 and Q2 ranking) scientific journals. He has attended scientific conferences and meetings across Asia, the Gulf, and Europe. Moreover, he has been invited as a Keynote/invited speaker and session chair at international scientific events. In 2023, Dr. Muhammad delivered a keynote lecture at an international apitherapy conference, presenting medicinal applications to scientists and academicians (including editors) from Europe, Turkey, and other countries. In 2025, he spoke at an international food chemistry conference in Turkey and received invitations from international universities to lecture and explore collaborations. His profile is decorated with international awards, fellowships, and service on the scientific committee of an international conference. He has shared research insights with scientists from Asia, Europe, Turkey, and Africa. His research strengths span rapidly evolving sciences, including cancer glycobiology and genomics, food chemistry, hereditary disease genetics, bacteriology and immunology, apitherapy, pharmacogenetics, and public health genetics. Since 2012, he has been actively studying these fields to maximize potential health benefits for patients with hereditary disorders and cancer.
