A Prototype Hexagonal Model Sketching 6 Key Factors Influencing Honeybee Health.

This prototype hexagonal honeybee model shortlists six key factors influencing honeybee health. The six key factors affecting honeybee health are nutritional (e.g., dietary toxins), environmental (e.g., industrial wastes, bio-wastes, radiation stress, and seasonal [e.g., summer and winter] impacts), bacterial (e.g., honeybee microbiome and environmental biota), chemical and molecular (e.g., chemical and molecular changes influencing the honeybee genome), social (e.g., behavioral immunity), and ecological and anthropogenic stress (e.g., parasites, pests, and predators stress and honeybee genomics).

This post provides only an introductory sketch of multiple key factors influencing honeybees' health. To learn more about this hexagonal model of the honeybee, follow our blog or subscribe to our newsletter. Impactful Honeybee Sciences will publish detailed, disease‑specific reviews of this prototype model. Impactful Honeybee Sciences platform will also share ideas, observations, evidence‑based research insights, and additional resources from experts/scientists/researchers in upcoming blog posts.

Honeybee Science and Apitherapy Future—A few Insights into Challenges and Opportunities for Researchers and Beekeepers, written by Dr. Muhammad R. Manwar.

Author: Dr. Muhammad R. Manwar, PhD. (Pen Name or also known as: Dr Muhammad R.M. Hussain)

Dr. Muhammad R. Manwar (PhD) gained research experience and knowledge in rapidly emerging sciences, including hereditary disorders and cancers, genomics, bioinformatics, pharmacogenetics, bacteriology, food chemistry, and glycomics. In different capacities, he has served higher‑education institutions—including public universities—in Asia and the Middle East. He made editorial contributions to international health and life science journals as an Editor (e.g., Topic Editor). In collaboration with scientists from the UK, China, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, he published peer-reviewed articles on rapidly emerging facets of biomedical science in high-quality journals (e.g., Q1- and Q2-ranked). His publications have been cited in well-respected (Q1 and Q2 ranking) scientific journals. He has attended scientific conferences and meetings across Asia, the Gulf, and Europe. Moreover, he has been invited as a Keynote/invited speaker and session chair at international scientific events. In 2023, Dr. Muhammad delivered a keynote lecture at an international apitherapy conference, presenting medicinal applications to scientists and academicians (including editors) from Europe, Turkey, and other countries. In 2025, he spoke at an international food chemistry conference in Turkey and received invitations from international universities to lecture and explore collaborations. His profile is decorated with international awards, fellowships, and service on the scientific committee of an international conference. He has shared research insights with scientists from Asia, Europe, Turkey, and Africa. His research strengths span rapidly evolving sciences, including cancer glycobiology and genomics, food chemistry, hereditary disease genetics, bacteriology and immunology, apitherapy, pharmacogenetics, and public health genetics. Since 2012, he has been actively studying these fields to maximize potential health benefits for patients with hereditary disorders and cancer.
